I'm Shane Perreault, a software engineering leader and hands-on product builder. I've spent nearly a decade working in software, including several years leading engineering teams. My day-to-day sits at the intersection of engineering, product, architecture, and execution, helping teams turn broad goals into focused plans and reliable software.

Although I work as an engineering manager, I've stayed an active builder. I regularly design, code, deploy, and operate my own products. Projects have included SaaS applications, developer infrastructure, AI-assisted products, image processing systems, SDKs, APIs, billing systems, and cloud-based media pipelines.

That combination of engineering leadership and hands-on product development shapes how I think about software. Early-stage products need speed, but speed without judgment creates expensive problems. The goal isn't to design the perfect system before users arrive. It's to move quickly while making the few decisions that preserve the product's ability to grow.

What I write about

MVP strategy, product engineering, startup architecture, technical leadership, engineering execution, and the lessons I pick up while building products of my own. The unifying idea is responsible speed: moving quickly, cutting unnecessary scope, and making the technical decisions that let a product grow into a real business.
