Engineering manager. Long-time engineer. Occasional writer.

I've been building software for more than a decade. Today I lead an engineering team; before that I spent years as an individual contributor across backend systems, product engineering, and the messy layer in between.

The problems I care most about are the ones that don't fit neatly on either side of the manager/engineer line: how teams make decisions, how code decays, how good habits compound, and how to keep shipping when the problem gets ambiguous.

What I'm up to now

Managing a team of engineers, writing more than I used to, and slowly growing this site into a place I actually enjoy sending people to.
